Meet Simon Garske: Head of Construction at Agile

With a background in engineering, Simon started in insurance as a Risk Engineer at FM Global and completed their renowned training program in the US. Simon then moved to Munich Re as a construction underwriter. He worked in Munich Re’s Sydney, Munich and Paris offices.
Simon loves that through his role he gets to see what really makes the world tick. As a construction underwriter, Simon works on projects from all industries; manufacturing, infrastructure, commercial, residential and power generation, to name just a few. This insight into the mechanics of society is what keeps Simon so interested in insurance.
Simon believes there are large gains to be made in processing claims for construction customers. Often with numerous decision makers, in different parts of the world, streamlining claims handling is one way to improve the overall claims experience for construction customers. But Simon believes the future is bright for Australia as a hub for innovative insurance products and approaches to complex projects.
When he’s not deconstructing the mechanics of society, Simon is a handy golfer, playing off single figures. He recently competed in the Sydney 20 beaches ocean race on his surfski, from Collaroy to Palm Beach in 4m swells and 30 knot winds (check out the pic).
