Tell us about yourself and your business

I migrated to Australia in 2007 and left behind a dazzling hospitality and events management career. I came across a customer service role in Personal Lines Insurance with Insurance Australia Group that seemed just right for me. The intense training provided on insurance products immediately caught my attention and fourteen years later, I have continued my journey through commercial insurance to being an Insurance Broker.

I am a Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB) with over 14 years of experience in the Insurance Industry with previous roles in senior positions with multinational brokers and large insurers.

I am the Director of my own business for over five years now and am a successful AR for Insurance House Advance (Steadfast Group).

As a director, my role is to run the operations, develop new business opportunities, network, train and hire staff and contribute towards the financial goals of the organisation.

With a combined experience of more than 25 years in the industry, and a fresh approach to insurance- Our company’s goal is to make insurance simple and competitive.

What was the journey that brought you to your current role?

As the famous saying goes, no one chooses insurance, every one just falls into it.

After being in a service role to start off in a call Centre to being a Senior Account Executive in a multinational , my partner and I had the opportunity to start our own AR business and provide our exceptional customer service to clients in the same way we did before.

It has been a rewarding and fulfilling experience to wear multiple hats being a business owner and an insurance broker.


What’s behind your success?

Hard work, self-development and drive.

No one can achieve anything without these, we stop growing the moment we stop learning.


What’s a mistake you’ve made that you’ll never make again?

Not saying No enough. Being able to say no makes us more honest and authentic with others. You are less likely to be taken advantage of.

I believe it is a natural skill that all of us need to sharpen.


What’s the one secret about your field or industry you wish everyone knew?

Insurance is not boring! It is quite a challenging and rewarding career if you want to invest in it.

You need to be patient and aspire for growth.


What are your predictions for the industry for the next few years?

Women are being recognised and “breaking the bias” trend is going to continue in the male dominated industry.

Technology will prevail and we all will have to make good and smart use of it.

The industry will have to think “out of the box”, especially the insurers and adapt to a flexible working lifestyle.


What’s your main goal for the year ahead?

To strategize the next five years for the business and to spend time on own self-development.


What are the biggest problems you face when dealing with MGAs, underwriters or insurers?

Insurers do not think out of the box and they are very restrictive on covers.
